Karim and Zara joined us for a eight-week placement in our lab! Both students were funded by the Royal Society.
"I am very excited to be joining the Particle Tech Group here at Sheffield. I am looking forward to testing and developing a brand new, state of the art, fluidised bed. I intend to develop my professional and academic skills."
Karim Almahayni
"I am passionate about pharmaceuticals and I can't wait to get some first hand experience in this area. I'll be working with the CMAC Hub investigating novel process intensification techniques for continuous manufacturing."
Zara Hawksley

2022/23 Academic Year

Igyaar (L), Prateek (M) and Eunice (R) joined us for a eight-week placement in our lab! Prateek and Eunice were part of the FUSE program funded by the Faraday Institution, while Igyaar was part of the University of Sheffield SURF program.

"I am a 2nd year chemical engineering student at the University of  Sheffield, involved in a SURF project which is an eight week summer internship. Supervised by Dr Rachel Smith and Jediah Capindale. The objective of the project is to investigate particle technology applications for next generation battery electrode manufacturing."
Igyaar Abdi-Rahman (L)
"I am an incoming 3rd year Mechanical Engineering student at Imperial College London undertaking a FUSE internship in Sheffield. My internship involves investigating the characteristics of Lithium-ion cathode active materials, which feeds into DEM modelling. I am interested in continuing the exploration of the ever-growing battery industry in my studies. In the future, I hope to work in impactful research that would lead towards the sustainable future of batteries."
Eunice Tan (R)
"I am currently pursuing my 3rd year in Chemical Engineering from the University of Leeds. Through this internship I got the opportunity to work on solid pre-processing of battery cathode materials using novel dry mechanofusion. This experience helped enlighten me on the importance of particle engineering in upcoming advances in battery research."
Prateek Verma (M)
